His close-up, or strolling magic, can “break the ice” at social gatherings, enhance image at hospitality suites, or draw attention to a trade show booth, as the effects can be modified to mention products and services. For larger audiences, The Magic Man presents several stage illusions, including the Classic Levitation of a volunteer from the audience.

How did you come to be?…basically, your origin as a performer.
Before becoming a MAGICIAN, I was a MUSICIAN. I’ve always been an entertainer. For 12 years I played keyboards and sang with various lounge and dance bands. From 1982-1987, I recorded and toured with the country-rock group Atlanta, earning three Top Ten hits and two Gold albums. Always an entertainer, when the group disbanded, I settled down and street-entertained with magic and balloon sculptures at Underground Atlanta for 10 years.
How long have you been doing it?
I’ve been a full-time professional magician and balloon twister for almost 25 years.
What kind of services do you offer? I mean, I know what you do, but could you give me a range of where you perform and what kind of events hire you?
I love performing for anyone who likes to be entertained. From childcare centers and birthday parties to corporate banquets and trade shows. Close-up strolling magic to stage illusions. Also, my company provides variety artists of all sorts, such as other magicians, balloon twisters, face painters, jugglers, stilt-walkers, caricaturists, etc., with the ability to customize presentations for a theme or even to help sell a product or service.
What should a client look for when hiring you?
Prompt response, customer service, exceeding expectations, many years’ experience, friendly communications, no surprises, GUARANTEED satisfaction.
What are some things you look for in a client?
Someone who wants their guests to have a good time and will be appreciated for arranging for quality memorable entertainment. Of course, it’s a joy to work with someone who displays the same courtesies we try to provide.
How do handle a situation with an unresponsive audience?
I try to accommodate any audience by keeping the age group, the purpose of the gathering, and the overall attitude of the organization in mind. An unresponsive audience is rare, but if so, then I either increase the energy level or try some other approach altogether. I recommend a bigger production for a larger audience so that everyone can see and hear what’s going on.
What’s the best part of your job? the worst?
Entertainers love the laughter and applause. It is indeed rewarding to provide a quality experience that the attendees will talk about and remember. The worst? Sometimes the travel and the setup can be tedious, but actually performing is well worth it.
What would you say to someone interested in doing that you’re doing.
There is always a place for quality entertainment. We love to share our experiences and skills with those who are truly interested in pursuing the variety arts.
What’s your favorite story about an event at which you entertained?
It was an honor to entertain the athletes at the Olympic Village when the Games were held in Atlanta. Medalists were everywhere, and I’m sure it was a treat for them to relax a bit from their stressful competitions.
